Scarlet Gala 2009
I had the opportunity to photograph the Scarlet Gala, a fundraiser event organized by the South Asian Heart Center. The event was very well organized and had various performances :Tattva, Dil se, fashion show by Heritage boutique and melodious voiced Anupama Chandratreya was there as well. Food was by Turmeric. Congratulations to Ashish Mathur, Padma Chari and the numerous volunteers who put together this event.
Book released
Earlier I had announced on the blog that my work was on the cover of a photography book. The book was released, “A Smile is Worth a Thousand Words: A Photographic Tour of Happiness” which Amazon.com describes as a compilation of photos that challenges some of the world’s greatest photographers to capture the essence of this sentiment.
With appreciation

I WAS THERE... INAUGURATION DAY
So we battled the odds, rather the cold I should say and met some of our closest 2 million friends. Long lines welcomed us everywhere. We went to the concert as well, listening to U2 for free was the highlight as well. And ofcourse the inauguration day was great and so was the parade for which we patiently waited to start.
Even though I'm from eastern Canada, I have never stayed outside for as many hours as I did at the inaugural, realized that I'm not used to the cold anymore.
We were lucky enough to get the last tour of the capital on Saturday before they shut it for a secure lock down before the inauguration.
The cold D.C streets.
My husband attempting to take a picture with my DSLR. Some day, I'm going to have to give him some basic lessons on using the camera

Zarqa's mehendi
Zarqa's mehendi was very festive. I had a great time photographing this colorful event. I couldn't help but admire all the little details that Zarqa had worked on. Her mother was very sweet and very emotional on this special day. Also, I had a chance to meet her dad and he is an adorable man.
High-five Zarqa, on your beautiful Mehendi rasam.
A quick picture of me and Zarqa on my iphone. Thanks Dr.J for taking it .
